The ‘Bungles contain some of the most remote and adventurous climbing on the mainland of Australia. Huge volcanic outcrops, situated well above the treeline, make for stunning trad lines and jaw dropping exposure.

With little in the way of guidebooks and ambiguous information online the route finding can be as challenging as topping out on a huge volcanic spire is rewarding. The climbing and location need to be experienced to be believed!

A Rough Itinerary

● Day 1

○ Depart Blue Mountains and drive to Coonabarrabran

○ Brief shop in Coona before driving into the National Park

○ Walk into camp near the Grand High Tops

● Day 2

○ Leave camp for our climb, chosen for summit views

○ Lunch on top of spire

○ Descent

○ Explore the Grand High Tops on the way back to camp

● Day 3

○ An alpine start gets us to the base of one of the longer routes

early in the day. Climbing commences

○ Lunch on route or at the summit

○ Big descent

○ Back to camp for dinner

● Day 4

○ Break camp

○ Walk back to cars

○ Drive to Blue Mountains

● Day 5

○ There is the option to extend the trip if you’d like another day

on the rock
